20220328-Final-Application-1

Property managers are supposed to provide an “adverse action notice” (top) to applicants who are rejected because of their tenant screening score, but the notices typically provide little information. Renters often don’t see detailed screening reports like this one (bottom), from On-Site, which shows their score and the reasons for rejection. Even this detailed report does not show how the algorithm weighted each factor. Credit: Obtained with permission by ProPublica. Red circles added by ProPublica.
